In 2007 Ike Miller passed away from ALS, it is hard to say how he felt years before that when he was diagnosed with this disease; slowly his hands gave away to the illness and the man that was once such a talented builder and wood worker wasn't able to craft anymore, then his legs began to falter and the man that used to run track and play sports with his children constantly, could no longer run to make a catch, his voice began to change and what used to be his strong, loud words, became slurred and harder to understand - albeit no less charismatic - but despite the fact that he was looking his fate right in the eyes every day when he woke up, he made a decision to be a beacon of hope and light to his family and many others within the ALS community. We are proud to say that The Ikeman was a constant source of love and affection, he lived with this disease and instead of letting it make him into a shell of what he once was, he let it make him into a stronger person than he might have been otherwise. Ike instilled love and gratitude within his family and friends, together, through us all, we can make sure that never fades, we can make sure that his message stays strong...
Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. Forever. Always.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Our team is committed to raising money and raising awareness to support people in our community with ALS. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
Best Regards,
Team Ike
